FAQs
Why Zero Zero Two?
That’s an easy one—because it’s the start of a new game, new beginnings, endless opportunities. We like the idea that our brand symbolizes that kind of energy and hope because it’s what we want our facility to bring to Fort Collins.
Why do you have a membership cap and how many members will it include?
Our membership cap will fall somewhere between 600 and 650 depending on how many people land in each membership type we offer. The cap is set to about 75% of our winter capacity, allowing members to have adequate court space when they want it. We decided to cap membership because we’ve belonged to clubs that oversold their capacity, making it nearly impossible to find open courts. It wasn’t fun. So part of our value proposition is making sure we manage the flow of traffic well enough that everyone gets to play.
OK, but aren’t there some times of day that are always overfilled?
Yep. Because the large majority of us still gotta go to work (dang it), the 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm time slots are often very busy. To maximize court availability during prime time hours and make the allocation of courts fair, we plan to do two things: (1) avoid classes and events that take up valuable court space during those times and, (2) if demand gets high enough for those slots that people are struggling to find space, we will initiate a lottery system for those who want those slots allowing rotating opportunities to claim a court so everyone gets to eat!
Why are there 3 different membership types?
This range of formats is designed to serve different needs. If you play a lot (3 times per week or more), the Fanatic is going to cost you less. If you play 2 times per week or so, the Flex will likely be your lowest cost option. And if you play once a week or only occasionally, the Freestyle is the best value for you.
Can I buy a membership now?
Yes. While you can’t buy a traditional membership right now, there are two ways to make sure you’re one of the 600 under our cap:
You can guarantee your spot by making an Early Bird Deposit. Early Bird Deposits guarantee you a spot under the cap and are applied to the membership you choose when we open. Plus, they are only $149 and fully refundable within 30 days of our grand opening. So if you don’t like what you see after we open, you walk away scot free.
You can also purchase a one or two year Founding Membership. Founding Memberships are a nice way for those who want to support the development of the club to get the lowest price we will ever offer in advance of our launch. But Founding memberships are also limited. We’re only offering 100 of these deeply discounted memberships, so jump in while you still can. Oh, and these are fully refundable, too.
If I pre-pay annually for a membership do I then also need to pay every time I come in?
It depends. If you buy the Fanatic and pre-pay for a year, you’ll save about 10% on the cost of your membership and you can come and play as much as you want without paying anything additional for reservations. If you buy the Flex and pre-pay for a year, you’ll save about 10% on the cost of your membership and you won’t have any additional monthly fees to pay, but you will still need to pay a ½ price hourly fee for use of the courts every time you come in. The Freestyle is all hourly, so you can’t pay anything up-front unless you decide to buy some hours in advance up-front. If you do, that is all you will pay for court reservations.
Can I use my insurance to become a member?
No. Not yet, at least. We’re evaluating insurance plans as part of our mix, but we won’t know for sure whether using insurance plans will be an option for members until we get much closer to our opening date. If you’re on our mailing list, we’ll make sure to keep you informed about any progress on that front as things develop.
Do founding members have special privileges?
Yes they do. They pay less than anyone else because they are making a commitment to the club a year before it opens. They also get 10-day advanced reservations when all other members max out at 7-day advanced reservations, special discounts on leagues, tournaments, and equipment, and best of all, the annual price they pay at founding is the price they carry with them for as long as they retain their membership.
Can I put my membership on hold?
Probably. This is an issue that came up in the Q&A at the open house and one we want to address for our members. In real life, things happen. People travel for work, they sprain ankles, they have family issues, they win the lottery and want to spend 3 months on their private Caribbean island in the middle of the winter. We get it and we want to be flexible enough to accommodate real life issues. What we don’t want to do is put the club’s sustainability at risk by inadvertently offering a loophole that effectively becomes a winter-only membership option. So we will very likely offer the ability for members to pause their membership for one month per year to allow some flexibility, and work with people one-on-one to help accommodate special circumstances. Stay tuned on this one.
How many reservations will I be able to make at one time?
You can book up to five 2-hour reservations each week (or any combination of 10 hours of booking). This gives our members the ultimate flexibility to plan games across the week and know they have a court available. But, as they say, with great power comes great responsibility! So while we allow multiple bookings, we also charge $40 per hour per court for no-shows and unused bookings. This keeps random extra bookings to a minimum assuring everyone has access to courts.
Will there be Open Play and drill classes and leagues?
Yes. We haven’t worked through all of our programming as of yet, but we know we want to offer level-rated Open Play, drill classes, and leagues. Meaning, we want to make sure that when you come to Open Play or a league, or a class, that you’re matched with people at your skill level, and/or that you’re learning specific skills that will help you truly improve. We’ll get more information out about those specifics as we get closer to opening, but rest assured that we’ve got you covered on this front.
Why do you charge for drill classes, leagues and tournaments?
We haven’t quite landed on a specific price for leagues and tournaments, but our goal with everything we do is twofold: (1) make it as inexpensive as possible for as many people as possible, and (2) make it absolutely, positively amazing. We’ve all played in leagues that were thrown together or that couldn’t attract enough people. And sometimes that’s OK-ish. But we don’t want to bring you OK-ish. We want to bring you great. So we intend to invest in making drill classes, leagues, and tournaments next-level. And if we ask you to pay for them, it’ll be because we think you are going to get every penny’s worth.
Talk to me about sound and lighting.
Our top 3 priorities in building this facility are (1) quality outdoor court surfaces throughout, (2) bright, even lighting that eliminates glare, and (3) effective sound mitigation. The first is pretty straight-forward in that we’ll have PPA-style outdoor court surfaces indoors and outdoors. The other two require some more customization around the building, the location or the courts, and the height of the ceiling. We’re working with a wide range of vendors to find the best possible solutions to create a space that is best-in-class for the playing experience.
What are the hours of operation?
We’re planning to be open from 6am to 9pm 7 days a week. We’re also considering a system that would allow Founding Members (and possibly Fanatics) to use the facility outside of normal operating hours with a scan or code function. We’ll have more updates on this as we get closer to opening.
When do you expect to open?
Right now we’re targeting August of 2025, and we fully expect to make that deadline. That said, a good portion of the timeline is dictated by the city’s development review process, so we’re somewhat at their mercy. If you’re on our mailing list you’ll get updates on our progress.
If a train leaves the station at 4:00 heading south at 60 miles per hour when will it arrive at the facility?
Just in time for Open Play.
